23rd PRACE Call for proposals for project access

Now European researchers in industry and academia can apply for HPC resources from Europe’s fastest supercomputers.

There are six tier-0 supercomputers from five different countries in this call – the 23rd PRACE (the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe) call for proposal for project access.

In this call, you can apply for large projects that provide major scientific impact. You can get access to considerable CPU resources, and in particular, extensive GPU resources exceeding what Sigma2 has available. Proposals can be based on a twelve-month schedule (Single-year Projects) or a 24- or 36-months schedule (Multi-year Projects). The allocation of awarded resources is made one year at a time with provisional allocations awarded for the 2nd and 3rd year. The call reserves 0.5% of the total resources available for this call for Centres of Excellence (CoE) as selected by the European Commission under the E-INFRA-5-2015 call for proposals.

Scientists and researchers can apply for access to PRACE resources. Industrial users can apply if they have their head offices or substantial R&D activity in Europe. Principal Investigators from the industry have the possibility to apply for Single-year access to a special Industry Track that prioritises 10% of the total resources available.

The PRACE Access Committee, composed of leading international scientists and engineers, ranks the proposals received and produces a recommendation to award PRACE resources based on scientific and technical excellence.

Full call details on the PRACE website.
Proposals must be submitted through the new portal for submission by Tuesday 27 April at 10:00 CET.

Sigma2 will be pleased to help in preparing applications, especially with technical aspects.
