New Norwegian expert in ESFRI

Dr. Hans A. Eide has been appointed by the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research to be the new Norwegian expert in ESFRI.


Replacing Bjørn Henrichsen, who has now retired, Hans A. Eide will join ESFRI a Norwegain expert from 2019. 


The mission of ESFRI is to support a coherent and strategy-led approach to policy-making on research infrastructures in Europe, and to facilitate multilateral initiatives leading to the better use and development of research infrastructures, at EU and international level.
ESFRI's delegates are nominated by the Research Ministers of the Member and Associate Countries, and include a representative of the Commission, working together to develop a joint vision and a common strategy.

Hans A. Eide's background

Hans A. Eide (M), holds a PhD in Atmospheric Physics from University of Alaska, Fairbanks, USA (2000). Dr. Eide worked within the field of remote sensing and atmospheric modelling as a research assistant professor at Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey, USA before joining the University of Oslo (UiO), Norway in 2006. Dr. Eide has since worked, and from 2009 headed, the HPC and research support activities at the university. This includes responsibility for large e-infrastructure procurements and managing UiO’s participation in high-profile projects, nationally and internationally.

He has worked at Sigma2 as a special adviser since 2016. This includes work in several international boards and councils and heavily involvement in strategic work both at organisational level, national level and international level.
